In therapy, the mind is an asset. We use it to consider: What is happening in the mind: Experiences, Personality Traits, and Trauma? The mind can sometimes be the center of suffering, where self-critical thoughts, low self-esteem, mood disorders, perfectionism and trauma flashbacks can take hold. Collaboration helps us to put our minds together to understand what troubles you and how to help.
Emotions are called feelings because there are physical sensations that accompany them. The link between our feelings and our physical selves is sometimes hard to trace. We use the body to consider: What is happening in the body: Hormones, Neurons, Reflexes, and Physical Health? But from ancient wisdom and modern science, we know they are deeply intertwined. When we suffer emotionally, our bodies carry the load. This is especially true when trauma is in the picture.
Each of us has a voice that guides toward health and wholeness. Some might call it the soul, the spirit, the heart, or the Self. To some this may be a higher power that helps to guide us through life. We use the Spirit to consider: What is going on in life with interactions, connections, and acceptance? And more importantly, Why Do I Care? During times of intense overwhelm, we can lose connection. Through kind and thoughtful attention to your spirit, the trap of depression, anxiety and trauma begins to loosen and relief becomes possible.
